It&#8217;s about to get busy and there&#8217;s no time for overwhelm.<\/p>\n<p>When back to school season rolls around, it&#8217;s a breath of fresh air for boutique owners after the dreaded summer drought. \u00a0You\u2019ve never been so excited to hear the word \u2018leggings\u2019 in your life right?<\/p>\n<p>Goodbye to low margin tanks and shorts, hello FALL FASHION, layers, investment pieces, higher margins, and consumers hungry for a closet upgrade!<\/p>\n<p>There are two types of boutique owners this time of year&#8230;..those who strategically approach fall and end the year with their biggest numbers yet, and those who react to fall and just hope to leave with something in their pockets when it all shakes out.<\/p>\n<p>Hmmm. Which are you?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Let&#8217;s talk fall strategy and how to take on the 4th Quarter like a BOSS.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Here are 5 tips to maximize the fall fashion season for your business, so you\u2019re ready to post your biggest numbers of the year!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3>1. Optimize your time.<\/h3>\n<p>If you don\u2019t already use some kind of day planner, we can\u2019t be friends. \u00a0Real talk, only plans made are played. \u00a0If there\u2019s one sure fire way to waste your precious time and leave you feeling overwhelmed, it\u2019s trying to approach your whole to do list day after day.<\/p>\n<p>Use your day planner to break your week into chunks of time for specific purposes. Inventory, Buying, Social, \u00a0Staff, Photos, etc. \u00a0Keep time blocks of the biggest items to tackle week after week and approach them one at a time like a boss.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>2. \u00a0Prioritize your to-do lists.<\/h3>\n<p>Are you a list maker? \u00a0Rather than dealing with the mental anguish of \u00a0looking at the same 50-item list day after day with little progress, break that baby up into 4 unique lists.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Weekly tasks (time blocking on your schedule)<\/li>\n<li>Most important items this week<\/li>\n<li>Plans and tasks for 2-6 months (not this week!)<\/li>\n<li>Items to outsource<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Outsource? \u201cI can\u2019t afford that\u201d you might be thinking. Oh yes, you can. Read on.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>3. Do the 20 that gets you 80!<\/h3>\n<p>There are items on your lists that are urgent but not important. There are items that are very important, but not urgent.<\/p>\n<p>You need to have the foresight to choose to spend your time on things that make you money (but may be big tasks), and let go of the rest. Things like cleaning, steaming, inventory, shipping, receiving, photo editing, some social media tasks (but not all!!!), errands, some customer service and invoicing &#8212; these items can be taken off your plate and should so that you can focus on using your time to build your business.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Work ON your business, not IN your business for it to flourish!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>4. Plan your fall and holiday promotions NOW.<\/h3>\n<p>Events and promotions should be planned 2-6 months ahead of time. \u00a0Last minute ideas are great, but thinking strategically, comparing last years numbers, setting goals, finding ways to collaborate with others, planning event specific photo shoots, and building customer anticipation will lead to much greater success and customer satisfaction.<\/p>\n<p>What are your plans for Shop Small Saturday? \u00a0We have some ideas on that from a few years ago (an oldie but a goodie <a href=\"https:\/\/theboutiquehub.com\/blog\/post\/shopsmall-series-part-i-6-tips-to-make-the-most-of-the-biggest-holiday-week\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/theboutiquehub.com\/blog\/post\/shopsmall-series-part-ii-7-tips-to-craft-offers-your-customers-will-love\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/theboutiquehub.com\/blog\/post\/shopsmall-series-part-iii-your-thanksgiving-weekend-marketing-playbook-3-we\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>). \u00a0\u00a0Do you have a night out for the guys planned before Christmas? \u00a0What\u2019s on the calendar and how are you going to market it? \u00a0How can you plan your buying in collections for it?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>5. \u00a0The money issue.<\/h3>\n<p>Ok, this could be a whole topic in itself, but my dear #BoutiqueBoss, let\u2019s make sure you\u2019re maximizing your profit. \u00a0Have you addressed your price point in the market recently? Do you have an opportunity to add 1% to your profit margin on the best margins of the year?\u00a0 Do you \u2018clearance\u2019 your brand to death? \u00a0Are you investing in more products when you know they will sell out quickly, or are you playing it too safe?<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, are you saving anything? \u00a0Are you paying yourself monthly even with a small monthly transfer to your personal bank account? \u00a0While this number may start small for you, this one step that not only increases your morale as you\u2019re working your tail off, but if you have a spouse who supports your business it\u2019s important for him to see that process taking place.
